Learn To Sing At a High Level From Your Home
For many students, singing lessons are the most comfortable and approachable at home. Harmony Home Music offers private voice lessons right in your living room, giving students a familiar space to explore their musicianship without travel, the fear of being self-conscious, or other stressors. Luke and Hannah Sunderland created this program because they wanted students to study music in an environment that feels supportive. Luke’s background as a professional musician with degrees from Belmont University, creates a musical community that every student loves. Our teachers are carefully selected and background-checked, and they can sing as well as they can teach.
Whether you live near Bear Creek Pike, Sunnyside, and the downtown district, you can learn to sing without losing time to traffic or long drives. For scheduling information, contact us at your earliest convenience.
Harmony Home’s mission is to provide exceptional in-home music lessons while demonstrating the love of Christ through our daily interactions with our students and their families.
Your Home is the Best Place to Learn How to Sing
Students often sing more naturally when they are not adjusting to a new room or feeling watched by strangers. At home, warmups feel less intimidating, and students can focus on breathing and tone instead of the pressure of a studio environment. Children tend to follow instructions more easily when the setting is familiar. Teens enjoy having their voice lesson in a space where they can concentrate and practice their repertoire without distraction. Adults appreciate the convenience and find it easier to stay consistent from week to week. With fewer transitions and a calmer environment, lessons unfold smoothly from the moment they begin.
Voice Lessons for Kids
Young singers in Columbia learn the basics of using their voice gently and confidently. Teachers introduce breathing patterns, pitch-matching games, and short warmups that help children explore their range safely. Songs may come from early musical theater, classic folk tunes, or children’s movie soundtracks. As students gain skill, they learn how to shape vowels more clearly, keep their posture relaxed, and sing simple harmonies. These early steps build coordination and confidence, which prepare them for future choir involvement and school performances.
Voice Lessons for Teens
Columbia teens often come to voice lessons with goals tied to school programs, church music, or personal interests. Lessons may include refinements to breath support, tone consistency, resonance, and expressive phrasing. Teachers help teens work on pieces from Broadway, contemporary worship, pop ballads, and classical art songs, depending on what they hope to achieve. Students preparing for auditions or solos learn how to choose appropriate repertoire and present themselves with confidence. They also practice skills such as sight-singing, interval training, and diction, which support long-term vocal growth.
Voice Lessons for Adults
Adults study voice for many reasons. Some want to sing with more ease in church. Others enjoy learning a favorite style or returning to music after a long break. Lessons may focus on breath coordination, vibrato control, range building, or stylistic nuance. Adult students often appreciate having a clear structure that fits realistically into their schedule. Because lessons take place at home, adults feel more comfortable experimenting with sound, working through vocal exercises, and practicing new techniques without feeling rushed or self-conscious.
“Our 6 year old is having so much fun learning with his instructor Cierra. She is incredibly patient and encouraging during their lessons together and he’s always eager to show her what he has been practicing the following week when she comes back!”

Learn A Wide Range of Musical Styles
Columbia has a mix of musical interests, and lessons reflect that range. Students can study classical art songs, contemporary worship music, Broadway repertoire, country storytelling styles, or modern pop. Teachers show students how breath support, resonance, and vowel shape change depending on the style. For example, a student working on a country ballad learns how to use natural tone and subtle phrasing, while a student interested in classical study practices rounded vowels and controlled airflow. Lessons expand naturally as students begin discovering which styles feel most meaningful to them.
What You Will Study in Voice Lessons
A typical lesson includes warmups that strengthen consistency and flexibility. Students work on breath planning, pitch accuracy, and exercises that move through different parts of the vocal range. Teachers cover musicianship skills such as ear training, rhythm patterns, and sight-singing. Repertoire work explores expression, clear diction, and balanced tone. Students preparing for performances or auditions learn strategies to stay calm, present confidently, and communicate the emotion of a song. Over time, students gain a clear understanding of how their voice works and how to keep it healthy and responsive.
Lessons for Beginners Through Advanced Singers
Beginners learn foundational skills such as steady breathing, simple scales, relaxed posture, and clear pitch. Intermediate singers practice blending registers smoothly, refining tone, and exploring more challenging songs. Advanced students work on expressive interpretation, detailed phrasing, and literature suited to their interests. Some students study classical pieces by Schubert or Handel, while others work on contemporary worship, pop, or country selections. Lessons are always tailored to the singer’s goals and experience level.
