Personalized Piano Instruction From Harmony Home Music
Harmony Home Music offers in-home piano instruction throughout Nashville. Founded by Luke and Hannah Sunderland, the program blends professional musicianship with strong teaching values. Luke holds both a Bachelor’s in Commercial Guitar and a Master of Music from Belmont University, with performances that include the Grand Ole Opry and Nashville Public Radio. Hannah, an educator with degrees in teaching and experience in both the U.S. and abroad, helps manage communication and program structure. Together, they created Harmony Home to make music lessons convenient, professional, and rooted in care for each family.
With Harmony Home, you do not drive across town to a studio. A background-checked instructor arrives at your home and teaches on the instrument you already have. Lessons are open to children who are just beginning, teens preparing for auditions, and adults who want to pursue music at their own pace.
Families across Nashville, Franklin, and Brentwood already trust Harmony Home to bring music into their households. To start playing at a high level, call (615) 422-6224 or connect with us online to schedule your consultation.
Harmony Home’s mission is to provide exceptional in-home music lessons while demonstrating the love of Christ through our daily interactions with our students and their families.
We Teach All Ages and Skill Levels
Piano Lessons for Kids in Nashville
We understand that every student comes to us with unique and personal goals. For young beginners, lessons start with posture, hand position, and learning to read simple notes. Teachers often use method books such as Alfred or Faber, mixed with folk songs and familiar tunes that spark interest. Rhythm games, flashcards, and small composing projects make the experience playful while still building solid fundamentals. Parents often enjoy watching their children grow in confidence as music becomes part of their routine at home.
Piano Lessons for Teens
Teenagers bring different motivations to the piano. Some want to play in school ensembles, others are preparing for theater productions, and some simply want to perform music they love. Lessons for teens may include chord progressions, pop arrangements, or advanced classical pieces. Teachers guide them through practice habits, audition preparation, and performance skills. This stage often emphasizes expression and independence, giving teens the tools to use music as a form of creativity and accomplishment.
Piano Lessons for Adults in Nashville
Adults approach piano study in many different ways. Some return to the instrument after decades away, while others begin with no prior experience. Lessons focus on what matters most to the student, whether that is playing hymns, reading jazz charts, or studying Beethoven. Adult students often appreciate the convenience of learning at home after work or on weekends. Instruction is flexible, supportive, and tailored to personal goals.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
— Colossians 3:16
Piano Teachers for Beginners Through Advanced Musicians
Beginning students focus on hand shape, posture, and reading music. Teachers introduce simple songs that are fun to play, while gradually moving into scales, chords, and rhythm reading. Method books provide structure, but instructors also add familiar songs that motivate practice. The main objective for beginners is to gain confidence and build skills that prepare them for more advanced repertoire.
Once students outgrow method books, lessons shift into more challenging material. Intermediate players may explore Clementi sonatinas, Schumann pieces, or early jazz standards. Advanced students often study Chopin nocturnes, Beethoven sonatas, or complex improvisation. Instruction includes artistry, interpretation, and stage presence for those preparing for recitals or auditions. The teacher’s role is to help students find music that excites them while continuing to refine technique.
Why In-Home Piano Lessons Work
Children feel more comfortable practicing on the piano they use every day, and they retain the instruction more without the stress of a different and intimidating environment. Parents can observe lessons or listen from another room, which helps them encourage practice during the week. Adults often say that not having to deal with traffic is the main reason they have been able to stay consistent. The relaxed setting of home lessons creates a better environment for steady progress.
A Well-Rounded Piano Education
Students develop technique through scales, arpeggios, and chord progressions. They also work on ear training, harmony, and sight reading to become more fluent musicians. Classical studies emphasize phrasing, tone quality, and pedaling. Jazz introduces swing feel, comping, and improvisation. Pop and worship players often learn how to read lead sheets, transpose, and accompany singers or ensembles. This wide range of study equips each student to approach music with confidence.
