Guitar Lessons in Franklin
From one-on-one lessons with a working musician to recital opportunities and creative projects, Harmony Home Music gives students in Franklin a professional and fun guitar education.
Play the Guitar at a High Level
Harmony Home Music teaches guitar lessons right at home, which makes things far simpler for families trying to move through Franklin traffic on Hillsboro Road, Cool Springs Boulevard, or Franklin Road. Your teacher arrives for a weekly lesson in a stress-free setting, and that small shift often leads to better focus and steadier progress. Every instructor on our team has real playing experience and a strong teaching background. They know how to explain ideas clearly, encourage students through challenges, and keep lessons enjoyable from week to week.
We work with kids, teens, and adults. Students may join our optional recitals at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Nashville, or stick with private study if they prefer a more personal experience. If you are interested in acoustic or electric guitar, songwriting, improvisation, or simply learning the basics, reach out and let us know what you want to accomplish. We would be glad to help you get started.
Harmony Home’s mission is to provide exceptional in-home music lessons while demonstrating the love of Christ through our daily interactions with our students and their families.
Guitar Lessons For Kids, Adults, Beginners & Advanced Musicians
Guitar Lessons for Kids and Young Beginners
Children often enjoy guitar once they realize how much music they can make with a few simple shapes. Early lessons introduce easy chord forms, small melody lines, and rhythm patterns that build confidence. Kids usually brighten up when they recognize a tune, so teachers often use familiar songs to help them settle in. As children grow more comfortable, we add tablature reading, steady strumming, and small technical steps that prepare them for more detailed instruction. The goal is to help them enjoy the instrument while building reliable habits.
Guitar Lessons for Teens
Many teens in Franklin already know the type of music they want to play. Some dive into rock, others prefer pop or worship styles. Lessons may include barre chords, pentatonic scales, common chord progressions, and phrasing ideas used in the genres they love. Students who want to join a youth band or prepare for a school performance receive guidance in tone choices, practice routines, and learning to play confidently with others. Teachers help teens build on what they already enjoy while introducing new skills that open more musical possibilities.
Guitar Lessons for Adults
Adults come to guitar lessons with all kinds of goals. Some want to relearn the instrument after a long break, while others want a creative outlet they can enjoy at home. Lessons may involve reading chord charts, strengthening rhythm, developing fingerstyle patterns, or simply learning songs that have personal meaning. Students drawn to songwriting often spend time experimenting with chord progressions and melodic ideas. Because lessons happen at home, adults usually find it easier to stay consistent and follow through on the goals they set.
“Our 6 year old is having so much fun learning with his instructor Cierra. She is incredibly patient and encouraging during their lessons together and he’s always eager to show her what he has been practicing the following week when she comes back!”
— Devin P.
What Techniques and Genres Can You Learn?
Technique develops in small steps, and our teachers help students move through those steps at a steady pace. Beginners learn how to hold the instrument comfortably, change chords without rushing, and keep a relaxed picking hand. As players advance, they explore slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, vibrato, and other details that shape expressive playing. Fingerstyle students learn patterns that balance melody and accompaniment, while electric players work on tone control and navigating the fretboard. These skills grow naturally as students gain comfort with the guitar.
Explore the Styles You Enjoy Most
Franklin has a rich and varied music scene, and lessons reflect that range. Acoustic students may study folk, worship, country, or singer songwriter material. Electric players may explore blues, classic rock, modern pop, or jazz-inspired lines. Teachers show students how to shape their tone, adjust articulation, and match the feel of the style they want to pursue. A student working on country lead ideas might practice double stops and clean picking, while a student studying blues may focus on phrasing and expressive bends. The goal is to help students develop a sound that feels authentic to them.
Creative Development and Songwriting
Many students enjoy writing music once they feel comfortable with chords and patterns. Lessons can include guidance on building progressions, shaping melodies, or creating interesting rhythmic ideas. Teachers help students think through song structure and the emotional tone they want to create. Songwriting becomes a natural part of lessons for students who want to blend technique and creativity.
Practical Theory for Guitar Players
Theory can feel intimidating in a classroom setting, but it becomes much easier when applied to the guitar. Students learn how chords are built, how scales connect across the neck, and how to recognize common progressions. Those who enjoy improvising learn to connect interval shapes with the chords underneath. Students who want to strengthen reading skills can work through tablature, rhythm patterns, and basic notation. These ideas help players understand their instrument more deeply and become more confident musicians.
